Letters of Transfer

A letter of transfer is useful when transferring membership from one congregation to another. Make the process easier by providing a letter of transfer that is easy for members to fill out.

Episcopal Forms

Other Traditions

  • PC(USA): the clerk of session typically sends a certificate of transfer to the receiving congregation. Your presbytery office can share its form.

  • ELCA: the church office sends a letter of transfer to the receiving congregation. Your synod office can share a sample.

  • UMC: Membership Records and Forms Q&A (Discipleship Ministries) covers certificates of transfer and the Record of Faith Journey form.
